Generations

Three elegantly attired women of Rusfisque, each representing a different generation, proudly wore their colorful, flowing garments. This traditional style of dress obviously passed from generation to generation. During my visit to Senegal, I often thought that by donning such attire, these women must find it easier to maintain their connection with their ancestors. Also dressing in traditional clothing each day must have a profound influence on their self- perception and self-esteem.

These magnificent women had no difficulty allowing their inner beauty to radiate. As they sat in the center of Fatou Seck's compound, their relaxed state remained unchanged as I slowly approached them. Captivated by their openness and inviting eyes, I held up my camera to indicate my request. They smiled, moved closer together, and posed for one of my favorite images.
