Safe
Haven
Cradled in fabric, nestled against his mother's
back, this tiny child slept through the afternoon ceremony. The bond
between this mother and child was moving to me. I watched as the child
enjoyed a nurturing and a sense of peace that we often miss as adults.
How comforting it must be for him to feel his mother's warm body next to
his own, to hear her heartbeat as if he was still in her womb. As he
began to stir and let out a small cry, his mother's reassuring voice and
gentle hand comforted him. He settled back down to rest. In this safe
haven, everything was right with the world.
